8 days in China. Woke up about 5am on the 20th.... dragged our luggages to the airport and boarded MI 922 to Xia Men... (eh4 mung1 in the local dialect), according to the tour guide, is about 130km2.
The one thing that I liked about that place, is that it has the longest music score in the world =) , accompanied by a beautiful piano museum.
One of the most tiring was the changing of hotels... We stayed in total 5 hotels, in 8 days... The other... was the long bus rides...
Apart from all that, the beautiful landscape scenaries were great to look at. Being there alone makes me feel that Singapore is really a tiny island floating on the earth. When we were in Teow Chew (teo3 jiu1 in local dialect), what surrounded us was nothing but endless mountains.
The one other thing that amazed me was the driving skills of all the drivers in Teow Chew. There was one big junction that me and my cousin had to cross to get to Wal-Mart. Think: a 4-lane road in Singapore. Vehicles were coming from all 4 directions at the same time. Yet, the locals there cross the road, totally disregarding the traffic. Looking at a mother and a daughter walking across that junction, he commented, "Lets follow the pros". We decided that in Rome, do as the Romans do. That was one scary walk across the junction but fun nonetheless.
The other thing that amazed me was the ability to transform a scooter into a family sedan. And No, im not kidding. Russel Peter was right. I saw a family of 4 on a scooter. One child was standing on the little platform on the scooter, dad was behind him, behind him was another child and mom was sitting right at the back holding that child.
Last but not least, I like to thank Uncle Meng Teck for organizing this trip and 大姐 黄冰 for the scrumptous beef steamboat feast! =)
Well, thats about it. Will post all the pictures up on facebook soon.
